The Alaska Run for Women: Island Style!!!!

On the behalf of Pasifika women everywhere
My sisters, cousins and aunty ran the 5 mile Alaska Run for Women on Saturday June 13th in dedication for women who were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was a cause we were willing to do because of the lack of awareness in our community about the many illnesses we face as young Polynesian women.
Out of the 5, 400 women that were there walking and running with us, we were the only Polynesian women there. That spoke deep volumes of how much we need our community to start focusing on important health issues and to address the needs that are usually left and forgotten. Be an advocate and join the global movement!
